I live in Sacramento, where I love riding my bike, spotting wonderful art, and of course reading, writing, and teaching my awesome students. In addition to English, I love history and anything about culture, including art, music, and cultural history. I am always seeking new experiences and information. I have traveled to 18 different countries outside the United States.

I graduated from Bear River High School in Grass Valley. (Still a great place to go river-floating in the summer and blackberry-picking in the fall!) My alma mater is Willamette University, where I completed a B.A. and double majored in English and Sociology. I am currently completing my Single-Subject English Credential at Sacramento State's College of Education.

Favorite book in the past year... Wonder by R.J. Palacio blew me away.
Favorite movie in the past year... Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse. As an English teacher, I was incredibly impressed by the storytelling. And as a human, I thought it was SO fun!
Favorite recipe these days... Spinach quiche with smoked gouda, pepper jack, and braided pastry crust.
Favorite dessert these days... ice cream in a waffle cone.
